The fax machine is common to the office environment. Due to its size and price, however, it’s rare to find one in a household. And, typically, a phone call or an email is enough for the task at hand. Sometimes, though, a document must be sent instantaneously, perhaps because an employer requires a hard copy of it at that very moment. In such a scenario, only a fax can do exactly what you want. And, for those who do not have access to a fax machine while away from work, it is actually possible to send a fax by email. Here is how you can set up an Internet fax at your house.
To do this, you only need two things: an Internet connection and an Internet fax application (or simply a provider, if they use Outlook). Most Internet fax packages come with a monthly fee, although they are usually quite inexpensive. Their services can then transform your emails into faxes (or the other way around, if needed). The only thing you need after this is the identification code or number of the fax machine you are sending to. Then, follow the instructions of your Internet fax provider to properly send a fax.
Internet faxes offer many advantages over the traditional faxing system:
- No hardware requirements
- No phone line required
- No initial hardcopy required (the email on requires a digital copy)
- Many documents can be sent at once
- Low cost
- Documents can be sent from anywhere with an internet connection
- Documents can be received from anywhere through a mobile, tablet or softphone (VoIP)
Obviously, fax machines are very useful to have in an office. With e-faxes, it is now possible to take full advantage of their functions with ease, and without pricy and complicated hardware. This new simplicity, as well as a very reasonable price, makes the e-fax a perfect tool for home application. Any questions or comments you would like to share?
