Have you recently acquired a VoIP plan, or do you plan on doing so soon? If so, your old telephones may not be compatible with a VoIP system. Thankfully, fixing this issue is very simple. There are two options available to you: you can either purchase new IP phones, or buy an adaptor for your old phones.
Buying New Phones
Buying new phones is a simple answer to your problem. IP phones are natively compatible with VoIP systems, and you only need to plug them into your router or modem. However, not all routers are compatible with VoIP, and so you should verify that your current router can handle the new phones. If not, a new VoIP-compatible router can always be purchased. Converting old phones
Converting old phones isn’t as complicated as it seems. First off, you will need a VoIP phone adapter, which can be purchased on our store. Most adaptors have a designated number of phone ports (generally 4 or 6), so you should make sure the adaptor you purchase can support all of your phones.
Once your adaptor is purchased, you must connect the adaptor to either your router or your modem. If it is unclear where your adaptor must go, you can contact the distributor from which you purchased the phone, and they will go through the installation steps with you.
Finally, once the adaptor is connected to your router and a power source, it will start up. If any updates are available, it will download and install them immediately, after which it will be ready to go.
What should you do?
Whichever method you use is up to you. Adaptors will generally cost less in the end. However, if your current phones are in sub-par condition, or if you desire the functionalities of new IP phones, then purchasing a new set of phones may be your best choice.
