Tired of always running out of battery when using your iPhone? Here’s a few tips that may help you use your iPhone for longer periods of time. Although the following tips are for iPhones, most of them can probably apply to other phones as well as certain similar devices.
1. Lower the brightness
Reducing the brightness has a major impact on your battery life. It might be hard at first to get used to a lower brightness setting, but if you can adapt, you will save hours of battery life in the long run. Lower brightness also makes it easier on your eyes if you need to use your iphone in a poorly lit area. This can be changed in Settings -> Brightness.
2. Turn off or reduce notifications
If you do not need to get instant notifications, you might want to consider turning them off. Some apps use a lot of notifications and if you choose to display them as they come, it will consume a lot more battery than if you disable them. If you need to keep your notifications on, then try to adjust settings to get them less frequently. For the Mail, Contacts and Calendar official apps, go to Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Fetch New Data. For other apps, either go to Settings and then into the app’s menu or change them inside the app.
3. Charge your iPhone only when you need to
You should avoid charging your iPhone unless the battery level is low. After around 400 charges, your iPhone’s battery will start to become less efficient. It is also recommended that you charge the battery fully as charging it partially might lower your battery life in the long run. If you must occasionally charge your iPhone when the battery is not low, it won’t matter a lot, but avoid doing it too frequently. Charging at around 40% and keeping your iPhone in a cool area will allow you to make the most out of your battery.
4. Avoid using demanding applications
Try to avoid playing games or browsing websites with a lot of images if you wish to save some battery. Games in particular will drain your battery very quickly. If you want to to use less battery and potentially save some bandwidth, you could try using the Opera mini web browser. It is a free app and has many features to use less power and less bandwidth.
5. Turn off other unnecessary features (e.g. location services)
There are many other features that are enabled on your iPhone that you may not need. Look through Settings and try to take off as much as you can. While it may not be as efficient as the other methods, it should still give you a bit more battery life.
Hopefully you will make use of these tips to extend your iPhone’s battery life and make the most out of it. Have any additional ways to save more battery? Feel free to post in the comments or on our Facebook page.
