Phone line operators are a stereotypical image of the non-automated phone systems from the ‘60s and ‘70s. Such roles were a single part of the larger, more complex system that is telephone communication. Fifty years later, everything has become automated, simplified, and yet the prices have hardly changed as a result, with businesses paying far more than they should. Thus their telephone fees rise without stopping, much higher than anyone should pay for communication. And then, what plans they acquire are bogged down by needless restrictions and complications: telephone systems are limited to a single office or space, plans are offered with a specific, nonnegotiable amount of extensions, and so on so forth. But without these plans, no business could hope to survive, and so the question becomes: how does one avoid paying such fees when the related service is a necessity? The answer is much simpler than we’d believe: a VoIP system. Here is how you can avoid being fooled by standard providers.
First and foremost, one must realize that standard phone lines are not the only means of communication available to up and coming business, as well as more established ones. Due in part to the oligopoly of providers who hold essentially the entire landline telecommunications market, as well as the lack of competition, prices are very high. Moreover, the costs of acquiring the equipment required to provide the service are so large they impose a financial barrier or cutoff for prospective start-ups hoping to enter the telecommunications market.
The alternative? A VoIP system. Effective, simple and affordable to both provider and consumer, these systems also offer a high level of flexibility to businesses. For example, what would occur if you wished to upgrade your system so to support a larger amount of extensions, perhaps only two or three more? With traditional providers, the nature of the system would require a whole set of new equipment, as well as a large boost in related fees; with VoIP providers, however, the change is only a phone call away. Your provider will add whatever amount of extensions you want, and the exact amount of associated fees will be added to your monthly fare.
Another flaw in traditional systems appears when a new location comes into play. If you wish to establish a new office, either locally or outside the province, standard providers will require you purchase a second set of equipment. With VoIP providers, you need only connect your VoIP phones via an Ethernet cable, rendering the installation of telecommunications in a new office very easy, as well as much less expensive.
As the years go by, VoIP providers are beginning to overtake traditional providers in price, functionality, flexibility and simplicity. With the appropriate VoIP package, it is possible for your enterprise to entirely avoid the flaws of a standard system.
