Hosted VoIP systems are known for being cost-efficient, but did you know that hosted VoIP is also telephony’s green option? Hosted VoIP systems at home and at the office help you reduce your telephone bills as well as your ecological footprint.
The most obvious reduction occurs with energy consumption. Since hosted VoIP systems are virtual (including the hosted PBX for companies), there is no physical phone system to speak of, and so the energy demands are lower. Moreover, the cloud PBX used in hosted VoIP systems within businesses further reduces energy consumption. As for home VoIP systems, your VoIP calls are made over the Internet and so require no physical phone lines and systems, which once again reduces energy demands.
But the ecological aspect of hosted VoIP phone systems does not stop there. As mentioned above, the virtual nature of hosted VoIP phones includes:
- Hosted PBX (or “cloud PBX”)
- Virtual telephone lines
- Various other virtual elements of a hosted VoIP system
With standard telephone systems, maintenance often requires replacing components, which are then dumped off somewhere. With IP telephony, as there is no physical equipment to speak of, there are also no parts to maintain and dump; any update to your Hosted PBX or general VoIP system will take place through VoIP software. Even better would be for newly constructed buildings to immediately incorporate VoIP phone systems with a cloud PBX, so as to avoid physical material entirely from the start.
For going green, the VoIP solution is a great first step. In being both energy-efficient and virtual (cloud PBX, virtual phone lines, etc.), you can start saving money, time, and perhaps even the planet.
